THE BATTLE #2

Step into the past with an unforgettable reenactment of the battle that shook Denmark to its core. Four actors have gathered to bring to life the historic clash that took place in Viborg over 800 years ago. Their passion for authenticity leads to unexpected conflict and a struggle for dominance. Will the actors stick to the script or go off-book in the heat of the moment?

It’s spring 1150. A civil war has plagued Denmark for almost 20 years. The battle for the Danish throne has wavered back and forth and claimed many victims; cousins and uncles have murdered each other. Intrigue and drama abound as the battle emerges, with Knud 5th. questioning his own leadership and Prince Valdemar seeking revenge for his father's murder. The stage is set for a gripping spectacle. But will the actors follow the script to the letter, or will they be swept away by the intensity of the moment and do something truly unexpected?

As the battle rages on, the tension builds to a fever pitch. Who will emerge victorious, and who will fall in the face of overwhelming odds? Can history be changed by the actions of a few passionate actors, or will the course of events remain forever set in stone?

The lines between past and present gets blurred as the fate of Denmark sways on the edge. Will the actors come to terms with their own play, or will they become part of the history they seek to recreate? Join us for an unforgettable journey into the heart of a bygone era, and experience the excitement and drama of a battle that still resonates today.

AUDIENCE EXPERIENCE IN VIRTUAL REALITY

4 actors wearing motion capture suits perform THE BATTLE #2 for audiences present with and without VR headsets. Actors' movement sends motion data to a server that controls the actions of the main characters in the animated 3D universe; a reconstruction of Viborg 1150, recreated in collaboration with Viborg Museum and Denmark's leading medieval experts. The experience can also be live streamed from home.

THE BATTLE #1 and THE BATTLE #2 ARE the 1st part of White Hole Theatre's epic drama 3 KINGS. In 2024 we will perform Valdemar’s Story, leading up to the full 3 KINGS performance in 2026.
