ABOUT WHITE HOLE

WHITE HOLE THEATER is an experimental platform that merges real-world theatrical experiences with reality-enhancing technologies to tell stories in an unprecedented way.

A “white hole” is a theoretical celestial object on the reverse side of the singularity of a black hole. As a mirror of the black hole, the white hole emits energy, power, light, and information. Some physicists argue that the Big Bang itself, the origin of our universe, was a white hole. WHITE HOLE THEATER absorbs 2000 years of theatre history and explodes it into a new digital, virtual universe.

Founded in Viborg, Denmark in 2020, WHITE HOLE THEATER explores new ways of merging in-person performance, virtual reality, and interactive online experiences to create radically new ways of telling stories. By questioning the paradigms of theatre and digital reality, we aim to not just change how experiences are accessed, but change the fundamental types of experiences that can be created and shared. Our goal is the integration of digital and real-world experiences in art and in the public sphere.

The team at WHITE HOLE THEATER is currently engaged in development of the 3 KINGS project, which aims to engage and enlighten audiences while also proving our concepts, testing our technologies, and developing our processes. In time, these systems may be employed not just on new projects, but on completely new kinds of projects.
